Tell the Senate to support the financial security of the Latino community

January 11, 2010

The deceptive practices of big banks and credit card companies have touched all Americans, but some communities have been hit even harder than others by these tricks and traps.  Our friends at the National Council of La Raza (NCLR) are focusing on the way financial reform could dramatically improve the financial security of the Latino population in the United States.  They’ve been working with Americans for Financial Reform to support important legislation in Congress over the past year.

Now, NCLR has started their own petition to make sure that our elected officials know about the need for a strong and independent Consumer Financial Protection Agency.  They say that “it’s time to crack down on the abuses and fraud that have left a path of destruction in neighborhoods across the country and especially in communities of color” and we agree!
