Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the CFPA

August 26, 2009

Today we’re pleased to unveil AFFIL’s revised webpage on the proposed Consumer Financial Protection Agency.  Plans to create the CFPA have solidified over the last few months, and our new page is a one-stop way to find out about the proposal, read about why we need a CFPA, and see what you can do to help.

On our new page, you can find information about what the CFPA would be, why the fundamental structural problems in the current regulatory system make the CFPA necessary, how the proposed CFPA would overcome those problems, and get updated about the current status of legislative proposals. We also provide links to a carefully selected set of additional materials that we think will be particularly helpful for consumers and consumer advocates who want to learn more.

We hope you’ll check it out.  And after you’ve done so, we hope that you’ll let your Senators and Representative know how important it is that they stand with us on this issue, rather than siding with the banks and other financial predators who are doing their best to keep the CFPA from becoming a reality.
