Summer recess shouldn't be a break from fighting predatory lending
Our elected officials are on their summer recess from DC, but we can’t afford to let them take a break from fighting against predatory lending.
Our members of Congress are facing lots of tough issues right now, which is why it’s more important than ever that we continue our fight for financial reform and consumer protection. It’s up to us to make sure that these issues and the creation of a Consumer Financial Protection Agency remain at the top of the agenda.
Need proof of how badly we need a CFPA? Look no further than Florida, where Denise Richardson has compiled a list of common consumer complaints.
The House Financial Services Committee was originally supposed to vote on the creation of the CFPA before the August recess. Now, it’s up to us to demand speedy action as soon as Congress reconvenes.
Write to your elected officials today, and tell them to support the creation of a strong and effective Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
Better yet, if you happen to run into your members of Congress while they’re home, tell them how you feel about the issue and ask for their support for a CFPA.
