Credit card debt is less of a problem in South Dakota than the rest of the nation. The median amount of revolving debt (95 percent of which is credit cards) per borrower in 2006 was $1,304 – sixth-lowest among the 50 states – according to Americans for Fairness in Lending, an advocacy group that supports more regulation of the industry.
