New Outlet for Sharing Foreclosure Stories
February 11, 2009
Brave New Foundation is launching “Fighting for our Homes,” a website devoted to collecting and sharing stories about foreclosure. Here’s their request for stories:
We need your help. Have you been affected by the housing meltdown? Foreclosed on? Underwater? Record your story, or the story of a friend, family member, or neighbor, and send it to us. You can also add your written story along with a photo for the map. Then, watch the video stories of the families, mothers, fathers, and children who have lost, or are losing the place they call home.

There is a group that has been getting recognition as “The Foreclosure Boys”, they buy and sell foreclosed properties and seem to be empathetic to the situation and try to help where possible, but also have a business of buying foreclosed properties. They talk about the fraud and how little is known about the system and avoiding foreclosure. They discuss how many scams are out there and what to avoid. Saw them on our local news and it appears they have some sort of docudrama coming out.
I saw the Foreclosure Boys series on Comcast recently…It was amazing to see the “unknowns”. I learned more about foreclosures in 45 minutes then I think any class at university could teach.
