Jim Campen, executive director of Americans for Fairness in Lending, a Boston-based consumer organization, called credit cards “cash cows” for lenders.
“Banks that specialize in credit cards, they are about three times more profitable than other banks,” he said, adding that it might not be a bad thing if some people were denied credit cards.
“They issue a lot of credit cards to people they shouldn’t, people who can’t get out of debt,” Campen said.
